I use it as the example because I've seen/heard it put down many times. Why is Windows Media Player frowned upon. I'm sure others can suggest DACs and music players that will work just as well but it's really no more complex than this. Put JRiver on your laptop and tell it where your music is or sign up for a streaming service like Qobuz (no need for Jriver in this case). Connect the DAC to your laptop and amp.ģ. Buy a USB DAC such as the iFi ZEN DAC V2.Ģ. Most folks here are chasing the last 5% of sound quality and appear to be unable to put themselves in the shoes of someone who just wants to listen to music.ġ. ![]() I welcome any conversation and advise on the subject. Perhaps I'm just ranting but this rabbit hole has got me in the dark. Streamers and servers are the way to go they say, again no context as to why or instruction on how to. However, many seem to say not to do it this way without giving any context as to why. I thought connecting my laptop to a DAC and then to my system would be an easy straight forth process. I've tried reading a number of threads and articles on the subject but get lost easily because of technical jargon. I really wish someone would do a "How to" video for dummies with detailed explanations. I've spent about 3 months now trying to get an understanding about how best (for me) to go the FLAC route. ![]()
